Our Business Retreat 2012 – Art Camp for Women

Written by on August 31, 2012 in About Camp, Art Camp for Women with 0 Comments

The menu is in flux,
The chef has the flu,
We need an assistant
What’s a camp owner to do?

RETREAT OF COURSE!

We are committed to having a terrific Art Camp for Women so we schedule ‘away’ business retreats where we back away from the day-to-day operations of camp and look at the big picture.

Originally we planned a 2-day brainstorm and inveigled an experienced camp consultant to come along to keep us on track and moving forward.  Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans, alas, the consultant’s daughter and three small children had to be evacuated from hurricane Isaac (all are well) and as mothers ourselves we agreed it was an emergency and we were left on our own!

Art Journal Every Day

Altered Ledger Journal Again – Keep an Art Journal

I am still wildly in love with my Altered Ledger Journal. Even with Art Journaling Every Day – at the rate I am going – this book will last me into my eighties! AlteredLedgerAugust

Altered Ledger Journal (Can you see these were the wild poppy pages?)

This set of pages is August up until now as I am making separate altered books for my California vacation and another one for my son’s wedding, so about 10 days of August are not here. Thus the spread only covers about 2 weeks worth of happenings as this is the 22nd.

I came back from vacation to three non-functioning printers – sigh. This has cramped my style because I cannot print photos for this spread or for my altered books. I am itching to put them all together and must wait for repairs.

Roadtrip Beading! Art Camp for Women

Written by on August 17, 2012 in Art Travel Tips, How To - Methods and Techniques with 3 Comments

Lorri beading in the car. Not a great hair day, we left Spokane at 3:45 am so no wash and blow dry!

My husband and I recently drove 2000 miles round trip to take our youngest son and his stuff from Boulder, Colorado back to Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.  He’s a junior this year and moving into a house so we also pulled a small U Haul trailer on this fun journey.

I knew I’d be spending a lot of time in the car (it took 19.5 hours to get there and 18.5 hours to come home) so I needed a project to keep my hands busy!  My mind was occupied by listening to “The Hunger Games” on the way there and John Grisham’s “The Litigators” on the way home.  I’m not much of a music person but I love audiobooks and download them to my Nano to listen while I create my art.
