Trail Ridge Road Overlook

We are located in the Arapahoe National Forest right next door to Rocky Mountain National Park. The spectacular mountain scenery includes the Colorado River, many other mountain streams and lakes, incredible wildlife viewing and lots of sunshine. The scenic drive across Trail Ridge Road from Grand Lake to Estes Park is one of the most breathtaking roads open to regular family vehicles anywhere in the world.

An online friend asked “What can your traveling companions do while you are making art?”

Zentangle Calendar – Keep an Art Journal

Tangle a Day cover

I got this for my birthday last month!
tangle*a*day by Carole Ohl

Doing little zentangles is something I really enjoy and something that fits in an evening watching TV with kids or 20 minutes waiting to pick them up.  This clever little book facilitates my art-every-day resolutions and makes it easy to practice with new pens and patterns. I don’t know the rules and have just recently started looking at Certified Zentangle blogs so I probably do it all wrong, but I really enjoy it.

January&pg1I couldn’t wait until January to start…

The book is approximately 5″ X 8″ and  has a sturdy cover. It fits easily into the journal pocket on my purse. Each month starts with a sample tangle and a calendar page for the month and then there is a blank 2 1/2 inch square for each day.

On the Team! Honored, Humbled, Excited & Scared – Keep an Art Journal

Written by on January 5, 2013 in Art Journaling, Artistcellar, Organizing for Art with 2 Comments

My BIG DEAL for 2013?!

I was chosen to be on the first Design Team for Artistcellar. Here is a link to the announcement by Artistcellar.

The other artists and art have me in awe and I am honored and humbled. The unknown and writing have me excited and scared i.e. WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Something new always gets me cranking though and I am really thankful and happy to have completely remodeled and reorganized my studio and my office just in time for this next BIG DEAL! Serendipity and work seem to create my luck…LOL.

Fireplace in the studio

Last Week - before all the books were on the shelves...

I still have a small amount of work to do in the studio to finish up the ‘putting away.’  The fireplace still needs its bath and a new mantle. And I must come up with a couple of practices and systems to deal with the fireplace/firewood/sooty-fingered-kids…but I am creating in my art journal this afternoon so you know it can’t be too cluttered anymore.
