Where I am – Feb.2016
It has been a long time since I blogged regularly. I find a little deep-down wiggle of excitement at the starting in again. At the same time there is a little niggle of fear – blogging sometimes leaves me standing naked and alone.
My recent posts are just to get up to speed writing and baring my soul while I get the little tedious bits, like broken links and lost media sorted out. I don’t know if I can get Pinterest straightened out – I will keep at it.
In the meantime – here is what I will have on this blog:
The official name of where I am staying for this month is The Lotus Room. I am housesitting here while the owners are taking a break in warmer climes. This is warmer climes for me – there are 16 inches of new snow at my house today! (written Feb. 2, 2016)
We stayed here last year for about 2 1/2 weeks and loved not only the amazing house and being on Whidbey again – but the dog – Lusa! We love her. The best perk of housesitting for us is getting to hang out with the lovely dogs. I understand it is the best thing for the owners too – having people come in and love their pets preventing the need for kennels and all that entails.
There is a Martha Graham quote that has motivated me for the last twenty-plus years. I keep coming back to it, in my art, in my writing, in my leadership roles. Always making tentative gestures towards my own expression of life.
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it.”
