30 Day Vision Board – Be Here Now – Keep an Art Journal

30 day Vision

View 1 30-Day Vision Board #1

A group of women and I got together to try out different ways  for making the next month, week, day and moment-to-moment be the life we want to live – NOW.

Every year I take the time to make a collage of how I want the next year to turn out. But what if it could be narrowed down so that the collage had me looking at what I want in my day-to-day living, in order to have the results at the end of the year? AND to be living in those results now.

I  added two pictures because I had such difficulty photographing this spread and each part is important.

21 Secrets #2 – Keep an Art Journal

Written by on September 15, 2012 in Art Journaling, Classes, keepanartjournal, Mixed media with 4 Comments

Aack! Sometimes when I take a class – it isn’t pretty.  Well DUH – Why else would I need a class? Yeah but –  really – I don’t want to scare anyone away with ugly pictures! I did a couple of the 21 Secrets classes before the nice weather set in – and then didn’t do any all summer. I figured out if I got to it and did a class a week I would be able to do all 21 classes by the end of the year, which will also be the end of the class!

The class I took on was Christine Mason Miller’s Word Play. Wow! I thought it would be easy, but I struggled – sheesh. Christine presents various ways to use words or text as art elements. I of course put them right in my Altered Ledger Journal – and hated the outcomes…

ContraryChallenge_ArtCamp

Winter: "the season we love to hate and hate to admit that we love."

If you have been paying attention, you know that every week we post a couple of journal prompts for the Art Camp for Women Journal Project.

We have a number of people that contact us to let us know that they are using the prompts even though they are not “officially” in the project.

Susanna Suchak is one of these  satellite Journal Project People!

She sent us this report from her efforts in response to the prompts for week 37:

This was a real challenge … that is picking two colours that I don’t believe “go together.”

Found Poetry Scroll ala Kelli Nina Perkins – Keep an Art Journal

Written by on September 3, 2012 in Art Camp for Women, Classes, Fabric Art, Mixed media with 8 Comments

I’ve been so obsessed with my altered ledger journal lately that I haven’t shown you what else is happening in the art room.

I made a vow earlier this year to finish all the unfinished projects in my studio OR throw them out. I started this project at Art Camp for Women last October, with Kelli Nina Perkins. Seeing as I had to run camp too –  I didn’t finish it. [NOTE: The campers finished theirs with more embellishments and more leisure.]

Kelli’s 3-day class, Serendipity Sampler, had us moving from one skill to the next with so many ideas, that we could work fast or slow and still have more than enough art to put all the pieces together in the end. The components were so fun and so beautiful I just had to finish it.

Our Business Retreat 2012 – Art Camp for Women

Written by on August 31, 2012 in About Camp, Art Camp for Women with 0 Comments

The menu is in flux,
The chef has the flu,
We need an assistant
What’s a camp owner to do?

RETREAT OF COURSE!

We are committed to having a terrific Art Camp for Women so we schedule ‘away’ business retreats where we back away from the day-to-day operations of camp and look at the big picture.

Originally we planned a 2-day brainstorm and inveigled an experienced camp consultant to come along to keep us on track and moving forward.  Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans, alas, the consultant’s daughter and three small children had to be evacuated from hurricane Isaac (all are well) and as mothers ourselves we agreed it was an emergency and we were left on our own!
