First thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning.

The official name of where I am staying for this month is The Lotus Room. I am housesitting here while the owners are taking a break in warmer climes. This is warmer climes for me – there are 16 inches of new snow at my house today! (written Feb. 2, 2016)

We stayed here last year for about 2 1/2 weeks and loved not only the amazing house and being on Whidbey again – but the dog – Lusa! We love her. The best perk of housesitting for us is getting to hang out with the lovely dogs. I understand it is the best thing for the owners too – having people come in and love their pets preventing the need for kennels and all that entails.

She is happy and she makes us happy.

Our home-away-from-home is a wonder! Part of it is a straw bale house with ambient radiant solar heating in the floors. It is in a created community where everyone owns their own home, but share a community house, the laundry, the garbage collection/recycling, the well, the vineyard (the vineyard!) and newly – a community yurt where we participated in a community meditation on Sunday!

We work our daily schedule around low tide. Right now low tide is right about sunset. We make sure we are at the beach walking – with the dog and at least one camera – an hour or more before low tide and we walk for no less than an hour! Yesterday we saw five bald eagles at once! Two were juveniles, two were adults and we couldn’t tell for the fifth. They were together but one may have been an interloper.

Good Night – Sweet Dreams!

You don’t have to be rich or be lucky to have a life you love – you just have to be in action!

You get the joy of having a pet without the ownership. Pretty sweet. and Whidby island looks like a great place! Where are you off to next?

Janet! Thanks for commenting! We are here through early March – then in Seattle for two weeks. Then home to CO. We will be home for at least a month if not for the summer. Then – back to Europe. If all goes well – lol.
